Natural Oils

The organic fixed oils are all virgin oils with no additives or preservatives. The seeds are cold pressed, sedimented and filtered. The Cold Pressing produces a high quality oil, preserving the oil’s flavour and nutritional quality as no heat or chemical solvents are used in the process. All processing and packaging is conducted at Kahangi Estate and inspections of the high quality products have been made by the Uganda National Bureau of Standards and the Natural Chemotherapeutic Research Laboratory (Ministry of Health). The normal packing for each oil is indicated but special packing is available for oils ordered in bulk in 1 litre, 3 litre or 20 litre containers.

SHEA BUTTER
Shea Butter is rich in Oleic and Steric acid. It is a base material for many commercial skin creams and has been used in Africa for thousands of years as a skin treatment, moisturising, toning and promoting cell renewal. The cream is a proven UV blocker and is used mainly in skin, hair creams and soap. The seeds are purchased from communities who harvest the trees which grow wild in Northern Uganda. The product is available in 280ml and 1 litre containers and in the Kahangi Estate Natural Skin & Hair Care Creams.

COCOA BUTTER
The seed is grown by organic farmers in Bundibugyo District, Western Uganda. Cocoa butter is a recognised anti-wrinkle/stretch mark cream. The velvety texture, pleasant fragrance and emollient properties of cocoa butter have made it a popular ingredient in a wide range of cosmetics and soaps. It is also the major ingredient in commercial production of chocolate. The product is available in 280ml and 1 litre containers.

MORINGA OIL

The oil has a high Oleic and Palmitic acid content and is a good conditioning and moisturising oil. The light oil spreads easily making it highly valued as a skin and scalp oil, and in lotions, creams and soaps. Its lightly nutty flavour make it excellent for salads and marinades and in stir fry cooking. Available in 50ml and 160ml containers and in the Kahangi Estate Natural Soaps Range.

PAPAYA OIL

The oil is deep penetrating and has powerful natural anti-bacterial properties. The oil is used in skin oils, skin creams and soaps. Papaya oil contains natural fruit enzymes that help to remove dead skin cells, as well as Vitamin A & C and Omega 6 & 9  for skin moisturising and healing. Available in 50ml and 160ml containers. Also available in the Kahangi Estate Skin Care Creams and as Papaya Soap

AVOCADO OIL
The oil has a high content of the vitamins A,B,D,E, proteins and beta-carotene. Used in skin creams, soaps and shampoos. Available in 50ml and 160ml containers. It can be used as a carrier oil in aromatherapy, but usually diluted because of its oily consistency, strong colour and scent. Also available in Kahangi Estate Skin & Hair Care Creams and as Avocado Soap.

COFFEE OIL
Coffee oil contains fatty acids like linoleic and palmitic acids which has proven to increase the production of collagen and elastin, proteins that are important for smoothing wrinkles and preserving the firmness and flexibility of the facial skin. The oil also directly combats UV damage to improve the strength, resilience and elasticity of the facial skin.

Skin cells treated with coffee oil have the ability to halt moisture loss and improve skin hydration. The proteins in the oil act as a sponge to trap water molecules then transport them to the upper layer of the skin. It  also has the ability to protect against photo ageing through increased apoptosis (programmed cell death) of UVB damaged keratinocytes which remove damaged skin cells before they cause photo ageing and skin cancer.

Coffee oil contains a high concentration of chlorogenic acid which reduces redness associated with excessive sunlight exposure and the caffeine limits photo damage , decreases skin roughness and wrinkle formation and reduces the appearance of crow’s feet

PALM KERNEL OIL
The oil has a lauric acid content which allows it to produce a good lather in soap and hardness to the bar. The oil is very similar to Coconut oil with high saturated fat content, this gives it a wonderful emollient property and is cooling on the skin. Used in soaps and skin creams. Available in 50ml and 160ml containers.

CASTOR OIL
The oil is pressed from seed grown on Kahangi Estate. Castor oil is an excellent barrier oil and has a high ricinoleic content. The oil is both soothing and a good skin moisturiser, and is used in lipsticks, soaps, skin and hair creams. Available in 50ml and 160ml containers.
